Olivia Crossan, Coastal Programmes Officer North West
I am originally from Co. Monaghan and have been with the An Taisce’s Education Unit for over 4 years working as a Coastal Programmes Officer on the Clean Coasts and Blue Flag Programmes. I spent the first 3 years working with Coastcare in South East Cork and I am now based in Sligo working with groups between Galway and Donegal. I have a background in architecture which I previously worked in before joining the unit and I am currently studying part-time for a post graduate diploma in Environmental Management with GIS from the University of Ulster. I have always had a great interest in the coast, so you could say that working as a Coastal Programmes Officer is something of a dream job. The highlights of the job for me are working to improve and protect our beautiful coastline in partnership with the numerous dedicated Coastcare groups who are involved in the Clean Coasts programme.
Aidan Gray, Coastal Programmes Officer South/Southwest
I have enjoyed working on An Taisce’s Clean Coasts Programme since its start in Ireland in summer 2003. Working before as a multi-activity instructor in outdoor education centres in the Isle of Wight and the west of Ireland, this has given me a foundation of working with schools and community groups and this has carried on through Clean Coasts over the years around the country. Originally from London, my further education and employment were in art, event management and international hospitality. Currently I am based in Co. Cork and I work with Clean Coasts groups from Waterford, Cork, Kerry and Clare.
