Ballybunion beach is an long sandy beach close to the town of Ballybunion. It is also known as Ladies Beach due to the fact that women and children used to bathe on a separate beach from the men.

Ballybunion  beach has an extensive rock formation and some shallow caves to explore at low tide.  The site also boost  an extensive dune system  is the most important coastal wetland site in the country and regularly supports in excess of 50,000 wintering waterfowl a concentration easily of international importance.
