This is a very extensive sandy beach and dune system. The whole area is protected and is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and proposed Natural Heritage Area (pNHA); Tralee Bay and Magharee Peninsula, West to Cloghane pNHA and SAC. The beach also lies within the Tralee Bay Complex Special Protection Area (SPA)and the Dingle Peninsula SPA. T

he beach is located 3 miles north of Castlegregory on the Magherees Peninsula. The area is composed of Carboniferous limestone and the area in general including the islands off the coast are important wintering grounds for birds including Brent and Barnacle Geese. The beach is located 3 miles north of the town of Castlegregory on the Magherees Peninsula.

This beach is lifeguarded during the bathing season. Lifeguard times can be viewed by clicking on the tab above or by checking out the information notice board at the beach.
