Tramore is a seaside town in the southeast, 13 kilometres south of Waterford city, and is one of Ireland's most popular holiday resorts. Situated on a hillside overlooking Tramore Bay,it has a fine promenade and a sandy bathing beach 5 kilometres long. The town is situated on the north-western corner of Tramore Bay on a hill that slopes down to the strand and divides the bay. Tramore is a popular surfer's destination. Behind the spit lies the tidal lagoon known as the Back Strand.

This beach is lifeguard patrolled during the bathing season. Lifeguard times can be viewed by clicking on the tab above or by checking out the information notice board at the beach.
